HERBAL
What is Herbal Tea (Tisane)?
While often called "herbal tea," these beautiful infusions are technically known as "tisanes," as they do not originate from the Camellia sinensis (tea) plant. Instead, they are crafted from a vibrant world of botanicals, including flowers, herbs, fruits, spices, and roots. Because they contain no tea leaves, tisanes are naturally caffeine-free, making them a perfect choice for peaceful sipping at any time of day or night.
Single-Origin Botanicals & Musical Pairings
At Prelude Tea, we curate single-origin botanicals and herbs from small, dedicated growers and craft producers. Each micro-batch in our collection is paired with a custom-crafted original piano composition designed to harmonize with its specific aromatic notes and calming texture—inviting you into a soothing, restorative sensory ritual.
Is Herbal Tea Caffeine-Free?
Yes, 100% naturally caffeine-free. Because tisanes contain no true tea leaves (Camellia sinensis), they are completely free of caffeine. They provide a gentle, nourishing way to stay hydrated without stimulating the central nervous system, making them ideal for evening wind-downs, bedtime routines, or caffeine-sensitive tea lovers.
How to Steep Herbal Teas & Tisanes
Unlike delicate green teas, botanical herbs, flowers, and roots benefit from fully boiling water (95°C–100°C) and a longer steeping time (5 to 7 minutes) to fully extract their essential oils and deep flavours. Explore our handcrafted teaware accessories or check our full Tea Brewing Guide for ideal steeping times and ratios.
